It’s important to welcome and include others throughout our everyday lives regardless of age, gender, or race, which is why during the month of June we celebrate and commemorate the LGBTQ+ community. During Pride Month, we want to highlight and celebrate some outstanding businesses in Utah owned by those within the LGBTQ+ community who help make others feel accepted and included on a daily basis. Enjoy several businesses that are owned by members of the LGBTQ+ community this month.

Zest

Started in 2012, owner and operator Casey Staker has created a restaurant that is dedicated to providing its customers with an amazing experience filled with options for everybody to enjoy. Whether it’s vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free, Zest has it for you to enjoy. Zest’s chefs have been hard at work crafting a plant-based menu that’s suitable for as many different eating preferences as possible to ensure that all are included.

Forty Three Bakery

Formerly known as Streusel, Forty Three Bakery is a business that is “breaking the mold of tired, dated business models of previous generations”. Owned by award winning pastry chef Andrew Corrao, Forty Three Bakery is a place where all are welcomed to come and enjoy some of the best pastries in the Beehive State. When you go, make sure to get there early as the bakery is known for having lines out the door.

Friar Tuck’s Barbershop

With the mantra “A haircut is not a gender marker”, Friar Tuck’s has created a safe space for anyone who needs a place where they can feel welcome while also receiving an awesome haircut. As a small business, Friar Tuck’s prioritizes its community, looking to help make a positive impact for those who may feel uncomfortable somewhere else due to their gender or sexual orientation. If you’re in the Salt Lake or Helper area and you’re looking for a great haircut or just some friends, Friar Tuck’s is the place to go.

The Sun Trapp

Located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, The Sun Trapp is a cozy bar offering an inclusive and welcoming environment to members of the LGBTQ+ community. With a fantastic selection of beer and drinks and unique atmosphere, the bar has become a hotspot for socializing within the city. With no dress code or discriminatory rules, all are welcome to come and enjoy events like DJ sets, drag shows, and comedy shows at The Sun Trapp.

WB’s Eatery

Located in Ogden, WB’s Eatery knows that dining experiences are all about community. With a drink menu featuring several different cocktails, wines, and beers as well as breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu items, the options are endless at WB’s. WB’s also stays busy within its community, continuously partnering with different non-profits in order to ensure they serve as many people as possible.
