Power Rankings: Who's No. 1?

Each week we take a look at how the experts view Real Salt Lake in relation to the rest of the league with their weekly power rankings.  After a 1-0 win over Vancouver earned RSL its third straight victory and second straight shutout, the Claret-and-Cobalt climbed to No. 1 in the MLSsoccer.com rankings.  At 4-0-2 RSL is the lone unbeaten in MLS and the rankings reflect that.  Let’s take a look at the thoughts from ESPNFC.com and SI.com as well.

MLSsoccer.com – 1
“They have some of the most exciting players in the league with Joao Plata and Burrito, but what's really put this team on top of the standings is a defense that has conceded just one goal in their past three games.”

SI.com – 2
“RSL may not fill up the scoresheet, but it clearly doesn’t need to as it remains the lone undefeated team in MLS. The Royals have quietly assembled one of MLS’s most effective (and entertaining) front lines in Burrito Martinez, Joao Plata, and Yura Movsisyan, and it all worked in sync even without Javier Morales in Saturday’s win over Vancouver.”

ESPNFC.com – 4
“After setting up Burrito Martinez's game winner against Vancouver, Joao Plata has now played a part in eight of RSL's 10 goals this season. That sort of reliance might be troubling if it weren't for the club's undefeated record.”
