Week 3 Power Rankings
Week two saw a plethora of goals around Major League Soccer, but none came for the claret-and-cobalt. A hard-fought loss to the Chicago Fire saw rookie defender Justin Schmidt make his debut for the club, putting in a solid 90-minute outing. Goalkeeper Nick Rimando made several key saves on both sides of the half to keep Chicago from building on their lead. Were these defensive performances enough to keep RSL in league politburo’s graces? Check out the weekly power rankings and leave us a comment below:

RSL never recovered from a bad opening 15 minutes on the road against the Fire and they are still looking for their first goal of the year.

“They need a difference maker to come up big in the worst way. If DPs Joao Plata (out with hip injury vs. Fire), YuraMovsisyan and Albert Rusnak can’t produce, RSL could be in for a long season.”

Real Salt Lake fell behind early and couldn’t manage much of a response in a 2–0 loss to the Fire. The team’s attack seems far less deliberate now with Javier Morales in Dallas. It has no problem mustering shots, but many of them were either blocked or off target against Chicago. Yes, the Fire are improved from last year, but RSL will have expected better from this game.
