Week 14 Power Rankings

Two matches in Texas in Week 14 presented a chance for RSL to improve their record in the Lone Star State against the Houston Dynamo and FC Dallas. Unfortunately the teams from Texas had other plans for the Utah side as they dropped RSL for a combined score of 11-3. In Dallas, MF Omar Holness notched the first goal of his MLS career while MF Kyle Beckerman scored his first since the 2015 season but their efforts weren’t enough to garner a result. Where does RSL stand after Week 14? Check out the latest rankings and leave us a comment below:

“Back-to-back four-goal losses is something you don't usually see in MLS. Mike Petke and his team should all be looking in the mirror over the break.”

“Real Salt Lake's disastrous week, in which it lost at Houston and Dallas and gave up 11 goals in the process, has Mike Petke talking about open competition for places.”

“Oof. There’s really no other way to describe Week 14 for Real Salt Lake, which was beaten by a combined 11–3 over two games in Texas against Houston (5–1 loss) and Dallas (6–2 loss). Head coach Mike Petke called out his players directly after the latter loss, and it’s hard to blame him. RSL is in a bad spot right now; nothing is working on either side of the ball, and it’s hard to see what, if anything, can bust them out of this awful run of form.”

“With 11 goals allowed in two games in Week 14, RSL may have experienced the worst three-day stretch in MLS history. The good news is that the Utah side won't have to play back-to-back matches in Texas again this year. That's pretty much the extent of the good news, however.”
