Week 10 Power Rankings

Week 10 of the Major League Soccer season pitted RSL against the lone unbeaten team in Major League Soccer, FC Dallas. Coming into the match, RSL were without multiple players dealing with injuries and youth dominated the starting XI. RSL ultimately fell 3-0 at Rio Tinto Stadium behind two second half strikes from The Hoops. Was this result to keep the team steady in this week’s power rankings? “We don’t have a formation right now,” is how Mike Petke put it after a dispiriting 3-0 loss to visiting FC Dallas. RSL have nosedived after their good start under the new coach, and the makeshift backline has not covered itself in glory.”

“RSL is really, really banged up, and it's a problem the team cannot seem to overcome. Defensive frailty brought on by the injury list was a major cause for the 3-0 defeat to FC Dallas this weekend. It certainly doesn't help to give up a second-minute penalty, either.”

“Playing without goalkeeper Nick Rimando and midfielder Kyle Beckerman for the second straight week is bad enough, but RSL also missed center back Chris Schuler after a disciplinary committee suspension and started without Joao Plata for this weekend after the playmaker arrived late to practice earlier in the week (though he did eventually get on the field). Given all that, a 3–0 loss to FC Dallas at home maybe isn’t as shocking as it would be otherwise, but it’s still not a good look for a team that desperately needs to turn things around. RSL has now lost three straight and let in three goals in each of those games."
