Power Rankings: RSL Starts the Move Upwards

Each week we take a look at how the experts view Real Salt Lake in relation to the rest of the league with their weekly power rankings.  RSL played Toronto FC tight before falling 1-0 on the road, then pummeled the Chicago Fire 3-1 at home to move their record to 10-7-7.  Here is how the experts place the Claret-and-Cobalt this week.

“Javier Morales has come to life over the past two weeks and with him has come RSL's attack. The next step is getting Yura Movsisyan healthy and back onto the field, and then in a rhythm as the playoffs approach.”

“Until it's proved otherwise, Javier Morales should be included in every discussion about the best playmaking midfielder in MLS. That much is evident after his two-goal, one-assist performance in RSL's 3-1 win over the Chicago Fire. Even at 36, Morales is devastating when healthy.”

“Congratulations are in order to Nick Rimando, who is now in sole possession of the record for most wins in MLS history (181) after Real Salt Lake’s 3-1 win over Chicago. This was a vintage RSL performance, from Rimando’s two big saves at the end of the game to Javier Morales’ production at the other end. The Argentine assisted on one goal and scored two others as RSL continues to fight for a spot among the Western elite.”

RSL is now 6-0-5 at home and boasts a road record that ranks second in MLS.  Where do you think the Claret-and-Cobalt should rank?  Give your views in the comments section below.
