NWSL Power Rankings: Week 2

Utah Royals FC played their second game in club history on the road against the Houston Dash, drawing 0-0, on Friday, March 30. MF Gunny Jonsdottir and FW Katie Stengel had near-goal opportunities, but Houston’s GK Jane Campbell was impenetrable. In the defensive third, URFC held solid, not allowing Houston a single shot on frame, leaving GK Abby Smith with her fourth shut out in the NWSL. Utah Royals FC are still undefeated in their inaugural season, but was it enough to move them up in the power rankings? NWSL Power Rankings: Week 2 -

“Utah Royals FC displayed another weekend of solid defensive effort. Utah Royals FC earned their second draw on Friday, tying Houston 0-0. At center back, Becky Sauerbrunn and Rachel Corsie kept the Dash off the scoreboard and only to one shot on the night. On the other end of the field, Utah Royals FC were relentless on the attack testing Houston keeper Jane Campbell with 10 total shots. Royals FC dominated in shots on goal as well, 6-0.”

NWSL Power Rankings: Week 2 -

URFC will now join the rest of the league during the FIFA break window, and will return to training this Friday, April 6, in Sandy, UT. The team will then regroup to prepare for their historic home-opener on April 14, 1:30 p.m. MT, against the Chicago Red Stars, at Rio Tinto Stadium.
