Marcelo and Aaron Named to Team of the Week

Real Salt Lake defenders Aaron Herrera and Marcelo Silva have been named to MLSsoccer.com's MLS Team of the Week for week 9 following the team’s 1-0 victory over LA Galaxy. Silva was named to the starting lineup, while Herrera earned a spot on the Team of the Week bench.

Silva scored his third goal for the Claret-and-Cobalt in the 49th minute off a corner kick from Pablo Ruiz, flicking the ball with his head deep into the back of the net for the lead. The goal would prove to be the eventual game winner. Additionally, Silva contributed to the team’s fourth clean sheet of the season, adding a team-high seven clearances.

Herrera led Real Salt Lake in touches with 73, while also adding five clearances and one interception. The match marked Herrera’s second start of the season after returning from injury, while also being a celebration of his 100th Major League Soccer regular season appearance.

Previously, Silva has been named to the Team of the Week twice, once as a starter in Week 29 of 2019 and once on the bench in Week 13 of 2018. Meanwhile, this is Herrera’s sixth time appearing on MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week.
