Gunny Jónsdóttir Called to Iceland for Friendly Matches Against South Korea

Sandy, Utah (Monday, March 25, 2019) – Utah Royals FCMF Gunny Jónsdóttir has been called to the Iceland Women’s National Team for two friendly matches against South Korea. The Icelandic team will travel to South Korea and play on April 6 and April 9.  


Iceland finished its first tournament of 2019 at the Algarve Cup, gaining a scoreless draw against Canada and 4-1 win over Portugal. Jónsdóttir started two of her three match appearances and currently owns 59 caps with the Icelandic team.

In 2018, Jónsdóttir started all 24 of her appearances for URFC and scored the club’s first ever goal. Jónsdóttir had a standout performance last week, scoring a hat trick in the club’s first preseason game of 2019. URFC now heads into its final leg of preseason camp, in preparation for year two in the National Women’s Soccer League. 
Jónsdóttir is expected to rejoin URFC prior to the home opener against the Washington Spirit on April 20 at Rio Tinto Stadium.
