Man of the Match: In his first return to his former club, defender Kyle Adams led the teams defensive effort, making several major clearances and plays to keep the opposing team from finding the back of the net, including a block on a clear goal-scoring opportunity in the final moments of the match. 


Telling Stat: Rio Grande Valley FC kept the Real Monarchs from getting a single shot on target after putting five on frame this past Saturday against Sacramento Republic FC. On the opposite side goalkeeper Andrew Putna made four saves, including three back-to-back-to-back in an effort to keep the Monarchs in the match. 


What You Missed: Once again Head Coach Jamison Olave rolled out a Real Salt Lake-heavy lineup, with eight of the starting players coming down from the first team including, Andrew Putna, Noah Powder, Erik Holt, Ashton Morgan, Justin Portillo, Maikel Chang, Douglas Martinez and last game’s goals scorer Milan Iloski. 


So What:Real Monarchs fell 1-0 to the division leaders, the team’s forth loss of the season, but they are back home to welcome El Paso Locomotive to Zions Bank Stadium on Friday, June 18 at 6:30 p.m. MT.
