Man of the Match: Captain Marcelo Silva was dominant on both ends of the pitch in Real Salt Lake’s return to the RioT. The defender found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, with both coming on corner kicks. His goal was ultimately the game-winner for the match in the 2-0 victory. Silva also recorded two shots while keeping a perfect pass percentage to keep San Jose out of the net. On the defensive end Silva recorded two interceptions to help the team earn its sixth shutout of the year, tied for the second-most in the league.

Telling Stat: With tonight’s win, The Claret-and-Cobalt have won 14 consecutive matches when the Club is leading at halftime. This undefeated streak dates back to May 29, 2021, season when RSL played Minnesota United to a 1-1 draw after midfielder Damir Kreilach found the back of the net in the 13th minute on a cross from defender Aaron Herrera. The Club has earned 32 points within this stretch, recording nine wins and five draws.

What You Missed: On Juneteenth Celebration night, Real Salt Lake defeated Western Conference rival San Jose Earthquakes 2-0 in front of a seventh-consecutive sellout crowd. Silva netted his second goal of the season while defender Tate Schmitt recorded his first assist of the 2022 campaign. Forward Jefferson Savarino broke into the starting XI for the first time since returning to the Club on May 4 and made an immediate impact earning his first goal and first assist of the season, bringing his Club total to 22 goals and 22 assists.

What’s Next: Real Salt Lake will finish its two-game homestand next Saturday, June 25 at 8:00 p.m. MT against Eastern Conference foe Columbus Crew for the Club’s annual Pride match, celebrating the LGBTQIA+ community.
