HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, May 1, 2026) - Four RSL Academy players signed with Division I programs today, as the 2025-26 MLS NEXT season closes. Seven total RSL Academy representatives are set to enter the collegiate pathway for the Fall 2026 campaign.
Goalkeepers Zack Jarvie and Bennet Ewing, alongside MF Alex Uriostegui and DF Felix Contreras, join National Signing Day signees Chase Duke, Camron Estella and Jack Ottley to complete the Claret-and-Cobalt 2026 class.
RSL Academy duo Uriostegui and Contreras are headed to Los Angeles, signing with Loyola Marymount University. The Mexican-American duo have competed for their nations on many levels throughout the youth pipeline, Uriostegui donning the Stars and Stripes whilst Contreras repped El Tri. Most recently, Contreras appeared in the 2025 FIFA U17 World Cup for Mexico, awarded with the Captain’s armband in the group stage finale against Switzerland.
Goalkeeping tandem Jarvie and Ewing round out a successful 2026 goalkeeping class, joining then RSL Academy product Will Mackay in committing to Division I programs prior to signing his first professional contract with Huntsville City FC in March. Jarvie is staying local, attending Utah Tech University this fall, whilst Bennet Ewing will join NCAA power Stanford University.
“National signing day is very important to us,” stated RSL Academy academic counselor Lauren Genna, who works with the players every day, helping them navigate their academic journey to the next level. “As a college counselor, it's our goal to give these young men all the tools necessary to continue their careers in the classroom, as well as on the pitch. It’s fulfilling to connect these young men with prestigious university programs and helping them find their pathway and start to determine what their futures may be.”
Real Salt Lake Academy is the official MLS NEXT affiliate of MLS side Real Salt Lake. After a historic 2024-25 season that saw RSL become the first academy to have a squad win both the Generation adidas Cup and MLS NEXT Cup in the same season, the group now looks to build upon a firm foundation. Leading Major League Soccer in all-time homegrown signings, RSL welcomed Omar Marquez, Aiden Hezarkhani, Owen Anderson, and Gio Villa in January of this year, all RSL Academy products as part of its 45 homegrown signings after inking their deals with the Claret-and-Cobalt.
