Canada will open the Algarve Cup against Iceland on February 27 at Complexo Desportivo Belavista in Portugal, ahead of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Canadian team will then play Scotland on Friday, March 1. Seasoned veterans Scott (136 caps) and Matheson (201 caps), were both members of the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist team and 2010 CONCACAF Champions team.

Last year, Jonsdottir scored URFC’s historic first goal in just the third minute against the Orlando Pride. Jonsdottir played in the 2018 Algarve Cup and has 59 caps with Iceland, earning the captain’s armband.

Scotland

As previously stated, Corsie and the Scottish team will face Canada first on March 3, then follow up with Iceland on March 4. Scotland also looks to prepare for the 2019 World Cup, as they were placed in Group D of the tournament facing England, Argentina, and Japan.
