HERRIMAN, Utah (Tuesday, September 21, 2021) – Real Salt Lake Academy goalkeeper Fernando Delgado has been named to the U17 Mexican National Team for their upcoming training camp in Mexico City, Mexico.

Delgado, 15, joined the RSL Academy in June 2020 and played a pivotal role to help the Club win the first-ever 2021 U15 MLS NEXT Cup, including a clean sheet during the final against Philadelphia Union Academy. The goalkeeper will spend the next few weeks training with Mexico’s U17 squad and is expected to miss a handful of upcoming MLS NEXT and United Premier Soccer League matches for the RSL Academy U17 team.

The RSL Academy U17s are currently second in the United Premier Soccer League Western Conference Mountain Division, highlighted by a 6-0 win over FC Spider earlier this month and are slated next to play Yuta Kickers SC on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:00 p.m. MT. In MLS NEXT play, the U17s are scheduled to continue their season in Portland against the Timbers Academy on Saturday, September 25 at 11:00 a.m. MT.
