Diego Luna Chosen for U-20 U.S. Men's National Team

HERRIMAN, Utah (Friday, September 16, 2022) – Real Salt Lake midfielder Diego Luna has been selected to represent the U-20 United States Men’s National Team in the Revelations Cup in Mexico City, Mexico, during which they will face Peru, Mexico and Paraguay.

Luna most recently competed with the U-20 squad at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship. Having won said tournament, the United States clinched qualification to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup as well as the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Luna led the United States with five assists during the tournament, also contributing one goal.

The young midfielder joined Real Salt Lake from El Paso Locomotive as a Homegrown Player in May of this year. He has since made two starts in 11 appearances.

With 43 points accumulated through 30 games of the 2022 MLS campaign, Real Salt Lake (11-10-10, 43pts, 7th West) is part of a four-team glut in the race for the 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs. Now guided the last 43 games by former USA star Pablo Mastroeni, the Club’s sixth head coach in 18 seasons, RSL has the opportunity to qualify for the MLS postseason for the 12th time in 15 seasons and earn a home playoff match for the first time since 2019 with a successful finish. For the first time in Club history, RSL has opened the year with 15 consecutive sellouts in Sandy, Utah – the 8-2-5 (W-L-T) home record is amongst the best in MLS this season.
