HERRIMAN, Utah (Wednesday, September 16, 2026) - Utah Royals FC announced today the extension of forward Cloé Lacasse through the 2028 NWSL season.
The Utah Royals acquired the veteran forward in August of 2024 from Arsenal W.F.C, where she appeared in 29 matches and scored 5 goals for the English side. Lacasse has experience playing all over the world, having stints with IBV in Iceland and Benfica in Portugal after graduating from the University of Iowa.
Lacasse has defined excellence in her three seasons with the Royals, shattering records and contributing to the Club’s rise to the top of the NWSL. In October of 2024, the Canadian international scored the first hat-trick in Royals history in a 3-0 win over Seattle Reign FC before rupturing her ACL and MCL at the end of the same month. Embodying resilience and leadership during a 10-month rehab process, Lacasse returned stronger than ever and has only continued to improve on the field.
With seven goals and 10 assists through 24 matches in 2026 (all of which she started), Lacasse is Utah’s all-time leader in goal contributions, recording 23 in her three seasons with the Club. She also holds the Royals’ record for career assists (11) —passing Gunny Jónsdóttir (6) and Veronica "Vero" Boquete (6)— in addition to the single-season goal contributions record (14). On August 29, 2026, Lacasse tied the NWSL record for single-season assists, level with Tobin Heath (10 in 2016) and Croix Bethune (10 in 2024).
Lacasse’s historic season is a large reason why Utah is experiencing its greatest start to a NWSL campaign ever. With a 3-2 win over Bay FC on August 14, the Royals broke the Club record for wins in a season (now up to 13), while simultaneously scoring the most goals in the league (41). Lacasse was also a part of the Royals’ record-breaking 10-game unbeaten streak at the start of the 2026 season, starting every game in that span. With her experience, creativity, and poise in front of goal, Lacasse will play a major role in Utah’s search for a first NWSL title in 2026 and beyond.
