Tony Beltran didn’t mince words in his preseason meeting with the media.

"We didn't deserve to [make the postseason]," Beltran told Chris Kamrani of the Salt Lake Tribune. "We had to learn from that and had to learn from our mistakes and we had to be better. Otherwise, we'd be in the same place."

That’s a pretty bold statement by Real Salt Lake’s right back and Kamrani collected a few of these avid quotes Saturday afternoon during RSL’s Media Day.

There seems to be an overall tone of desire for this year’s team to get back to the MLS postseason.

"The intensity will be high with the disappointment of last year," said Jordan Allen. "That alone will be fueling us."

The team has already begun the 34-day preseason journey and is preparing for their first match against UANL Tigres on February 24 in Mexico.
