With the fifth pick, Real Salt Lake selects Omar Holness. The former UNC midfielder entered the 2016 MLS SuperDraft with high hopes of being picked up and GM Craig Waibel was ready for Holness to join the squad too.
"His build is attractive, his intelligence is attractive, the way he plays the game, his strengths on the ball is extremely beneficial," Waibel said of Holness a day before taking him No. 5. "I think visually, when you look at Holness, he looks the most MLS-ready physically.
