Nick Rimando has long been a thorn in the side of the Portland Timbers and it looked to be the same last week when he made a stunning save on a Fanendo Adi shot from close range.
That stop is among the finalists for the MLSsoccer.com Save of the Week as Rimando looks to earn his fifth weekly crown for the top save this season.
Rimando has a long list of remarkable saves this year and his stop of Adi on Wednesday ranks among them. Diego Valeri pushed the ball to the right side and whipped in a low cross for Adi at the near post and he touched his shot toward the near post. Rimando had it covered though, kicking out his left leg and left hand to make the stop, then smothered the ball to prevent a putback attempt.
Rimando previously won the award in Weeks 1, 6, 28 and 30.
