Power Rankings: RSL drops after draw vs San Jose

Team vs San Jose 0501

Each week pundits around the web rank the 20 teams in Major League Soccer in their own power rankings.

Here at RealSaltLake.com, we like to see where each of those experts places Real Salt Lake, so here is what they are saying after Week 9 when RSL came back from an early deficit for a 1-1 draw with the San Jose Earthquakes.  RSL dropped out of the Top 10 in the rankings for MLSsoccer.com and ESPNFC.com, but cling to the 10 spot on SI.com.

MLSsoccer.com – 13

“Um, finishing? RSL haven't scored a goal from the run of play since March, so that's an issue. Bigger issue: they didn't register a shot on goal at home last Friday.”

ESPNFC.com – 12

“The aforementioned own goal ended a 387-minute scoreless streak, but there are few happy faces on the Wasatch Front, especially after seeing Javier Morales sustain a concussion. It amounts to another chance for Luis Gil to shine in his favorite position.”

SI.com – 10

“Only a Víctor Bernárdez own goal ended RSL’s 387-minute scoreless streak, but it lost Javier Morales to a likely concussion and became the first victim of a bizarre new interpretation of the offside law against the Earthquakes.”
