Real Salt Lake goalkeepers Nick Rimando and Jeff Attinella go head-to-head in Group 3 of the Semifinal Round in MLS Save of the Year voting. One save will advance to the Final Round.
Rimando’s effort came in a Week 2 draw against the San Jose Earthquakes as he swatted a Chris Wondolowski header out of the air, keeping the 2012 MLS MVP and Rimando’s 2014 World Cup teammate out of the net with a reflex save for the ages.
Attinella’s stop came in Week 11 against the Colorado Rapids when Kamani Hill sent a 20-yard shot that forced Attinella to dive to his left to make the stop. He wasn’t done there, though, as Dillon Serna pounced on the rebound on to have Attinella cover the near post and make a second save in the sequence.
San Jose’s Jon Busch and Portland’s Donovan Ricketts also have saves up for consideration in Group 3. Voting runs through 12:59 am MT on Wednesday here.
