MLS announces schedule for 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs

MLS Cup Trophy

SANDY, Utah (Oct. 27, 2014) – Major League Soccer announced the complete schedule for the 2014 MLS Cup Playoffs presented by AT&T, laying out the path to the Philip F. Anschutz Trophy.

Real Salt Lake opens the postseason as the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference and will face the LA Galaxy in the Western Conference Semifinals in a two-legged, aggregate-goals series.  The first leg of the series will be on Saturday, Nov. 1, at Rio Tinto Stadium.  That match is scheduled to kick off at 6 p.m. MT and will be televised on NBC Sports Network.  The second leg will be at the StubHub Center in Carson, Calif., on Sunday, Nov. 9 and will be televised on ESPN2 with at 5:30 p.m. MT start.

This series is a rematch of the Western Conference Semifinals last season that saw RSL win 2-1 on aggregate.  The two West foes have met three times in the postseason, with Real Salt Lake winning the MLS Cup in 2009 and the LA Galaxy winning in the Western Conference Finals in 2011.

If RSL is to advance to the Western Conference Finals, that series would take place on Sunday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m. MT and Sunday, Nov. 30, at either 3 p.m. MT or 7 p.m. MT.  Both legs of that series would be televised on ESPN.

MLS Cup is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 7, at 1 p.m. MT and will be broadcast on ESPN.
