RSL Returns to League Play Attempting to Continue 18-Match MLS Undefeated Streak;

SANDY, Utah (Friday, April 29, 2011) – Real Salt Lake will return its focus to MLS action tomorrow, Saturday, April 30, with a stern test at the expansion Portland Timbers. Real Salt Lake will put its undefeated 4-0-0 record (12 pts., 2nd in West) and 18-match undefeated streak in League play on the line against the Timbers (2-3-1, 7 pts; T-5th in West) during its first-ever trip to the intimidating confines of JELD-WEN Field, with the 8:30 p.m. MT kickoff on Saturday being televised live on KMYU 2.2 (Comcast 22 / DishNet 12). RSL “Game Note” of the Match: More Than Just a Home Streak for RSL …

In Major League Soccer’s 16-year history, there have been 25 double-digit unbeaten regular-season streaks for its teams … Real Salt Lake’s historic 2010 season saw the squad amass runs of both 10 and 14 games, with the mid-April win vs. Colorado extending the latter streak to 18 games without a loss, one of the top three streaks in MLS history, just two games shy of setting a new League standard …

A year ago, FC Dallas matched the Columbus Crew’s 19-game run by not losing for 4 ½ months, then saw it crash to a halt by dropping an 0-2 decision at Rio Tinto Stadium … Dallas had the last laugh, however, ousting RSL in the teams’ first-round MLS Cup Playoff matchup with a 3-2 aggregate win in October … The list:
