HERRIMAN, Utah (Thursday, August 13, 2026) – Utah Royals FC (10-4-5, 33 pts) return home to America First Field to take on Bay FC (5-4-9, 19 pts) on Friday, August 14th with kickoff set for 8:00 p.m. MT. The Royals previously fell 2-1 to the Denver Summit in its second-time meeting against the expansion team last Saturday. The Club now turns its attention homeward to host Bay FC, chasing another win in front of home fans.
While URFC’s loss to Denver was an unfortunate result, defender Tatumn Milazzo was able to notch her fourth goal in the 89th minute. Milazzo was subbed on in the 68th, making her mark shortly thereafter, when she took a touch before firing the ball into the back of the net, giving the Royals an equalizer. While the Royals ultimately fell to Denver after a stoppage time goal, Milazzo’s goal was a personal milestone that once again showcased the bench strength of the squad. The defender is the fourth Royals player to score off the bench this season including Utah-natives Courtney Brown and Brecken Mozingo, and Japanese-international Mina Tanaka. The Club is now tied for the most different substitute scorers in the NWSL in 2026, showcasing the depth of the URFC roster. Another important milestone happened in the 68th minute, when Mozingo was subbed on for Cece Delzer, hitting her 50th NWSL appearance, all with Utah Royals FC.
Utah now shifts its focus to the faceoff against Bay FC, as they return home in its second matchup against Bay this season. The previous 2026 season meeting against the club resulted in a 0-0 draw on May 10th at PayPal Park, with neither team able to find the back of the net. While the Royals weren't able to secure a win, the stalemate left Bay winless against Utah in five all-time meetings, Utah’s longest unbeaten run against any team in all competitions. The result also extended URFC’s unbeaten streak to seven matches at the time.
Now, Bay FC enters the matchup on Saturday with a 5-4-9 league record with 19 points, sitting at 14th in the overall NWSL standings. Bay has not found a win in its last four matchups, having recently suffered a 3-2 loss to the Seattle Reign on August 1st, and finding a 0-0 draw to the Chicago Stars on August 9th.
While Bay has been unable to find a recent win, the club remains defensively solid, as they are the only team to have multiple players with 30 or more interceptions in the league this season. Bay’s Hannah Bebar and Claire Hutton each recorded two interceptions in their matchup against Chicago on Sunday, taking them to 33 interceptions each this season, tied for third-most in the NWSL. Bay FC Head Coach Emma Coates was appointed ahead of the 2026 season, and will be seeking a victory to break the winless streak against the Royals and prove that the club is able to fight with the best in the league.
As the Royals look for another victory in front of a home crowd, and a six-game unbeaten streak against Bay FC, Utah will rely on the depth of its roster and the ability to score off the bench in the Club’s attempt to find the net and secure three points at home.
