HERRIMAN, Utah (Thursday August 12, 2026) - Utah Royals FC announced today the transfer of Slovenian forward Lara Prašnikar to Frauen-Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg for an undisclosed fee. The Royals wish her the best of luck with her new club.

Prašnikar arrived in Utah last August following a prolific career in the German Frauen-Bundesliga, most recently with Eintracht Frankfurt, where she recorded 44 goals in 122 appearances from 2020 to 2024.

After beginning her career at Šmartno where she and fellow Slovenian international Lana Golob played alongside boys due to the club not having a women’s team, she joined Rudar Škale, making her debut on August 25, 2013, in a 5–0 victory over Velesovo Cerklje, scoring a brace. Over three seasons at the club, she tallied an impressive 77 goals in just 55 league matches.

Prašnikar has continued to be recognized for her abilities, being named Slovenian Women’s Footballer of the Year in 2022, 2023, and 2024. The forward led her country and all 2025 Euros Qualifiers goal scorers, finding the back of the net 9 times in 8 matches. Following a successful individual campaign with the national team she brought her international tally to 48 goals and in 88 senior appearances.

Once she arrived in Utah last August, the Slovenian immediately made an impact during the remainder of the 2025 NWSL season, appearing in five matches with one start, she notched one assist during her first season with the Royals. Prašnikar has brought speed, world-class attacking power and creativity to the pitch in every match she has featured in.

Throughout the 2026 season Prašnikar has continued her strong form, helping to contribute to the Royals success netting two goals in 14 appearances this season. Her first career NWSL goal, during URFC’s home opener against the San Diego Wave, Prašnikar made history, becoming the first Slovenian to score in NWSL history.

Prašnikar joins UEFA Women's Champions League side VfL Wolfsburg who finished their 2025-26 season in second place with a record of 18-4-4 (W-L-T). As the European side gears up for the start of its season on August 22, 2026, Prašnikar will be effective in bolstering the squad's attack with her elite scoring abilities and high soccer IQ.
