HERRIMAN, Utah (March 7, 2024) - Utah Royals FC has signed former USC Trojan and Canadian international Zoe Burns to a professional contract through 2024. The defender was selected 29th overall in the 2024 NWSL Draft.

Burns joins Utah Royals from USC with previous experience playing for the Canadian National Team. Burns featured in three matches for the US U16 squad before making the switch. With Canada, she played in the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup and was named to the tournament’s best XI. She has since made her full debut and won a Silver Medal at the  CONCACAF Women’s Championship in 2022.

While at USC, Burns met current URFC Head Coach Amy Rodriguez during her time as an assistant at SC. Featuring in 68 games across four years, the full-back recorded six goals and ten assists while in Los Angeles. She was named twice to the All-Pac-12 first team and twice to the All-Pacific Region first team.

“I have been extremely impressed with Zoe since she has come in. Zoe is a player who has attributes to become a top level player,” said Sporting Director Kelly Cousins, “She is fast, agile and has an engine to get up and down the pitch. Alongside her physical attributes Zoe has a strong technical base which will aid her in possession qualities and could really develop into a high level all rounded full back. Zoe is very determined to be at the top level and I am excited to watch her grow and develop.”

Utah Royals FC kick off the 2024 season on March 16 against Chicago Red Stars at 5:30pm MT at America First Field. Tickets are available at https://www.rsl.com/utahroyals/tickets/.
