As Black History Month begins, Real Salt Lake and Utah Royals FC are finding meaningful ways to celebrate and uplift Black history and culture across the state of Utah. There are many events throughout the state for all to find ways to celebrate. Rather than celebrating on the pitch at America First Field, both clubs are highlighting some of the community events, cultural programs, and educational activities taking place statewide that recognize Black contributions, achievements, and stories.

By highlighting ways fans and community members can get out, get involved, and celebrate throughout the month, RSL and URFC continue its commitment to connection, inclusion, and community beyond the game.

The Utah Black History Museum is the state’s first mobile museum dedicated to amplifying the stories and contributions of Black Utahns. Operating out of a renovated school bus, the museum travels to schools, community spaces, and public events, bringing important and often overlooked histories directly to communities across the state. Highlighting both local and national figures, the exhibit celebrates Black pioneers, musicians, cowboys, and everyday individuals whose impact has shaped Utah and the nation. As a living, evolving museum, it continues to grow its collection while creating meaningful opportunities for learning, reflection, and connection throughout Utah.

This February, Millcreek Common is celebrating Black History Month with a full slate of experiences centered on art, culture, and community. Throughout the month, the Common will host programs that highlight the legacy, creativity, and ongoing contributions of Black Utahns. From A Black History Museum, curated by the Sema Hadithi African American Cultural & Heritage Foundation, to IN COMMUNITY: A Celebration of Black History Makers in Utah and the Shades of Community: Utah Black Artists Exhibition Showcase, visitors can engage with powerful stories and creative expression, with even more events and opportunities unfolding all month long. For further information on all events dates and times you can visit the MillCreek Common site here.

The Cocktail Collective, a small, Black- and female-owned business, is hosting a special cocktail class in honor of Black History Month that celebrates the bartenders, distillers, and innovators who have shaped American drinking culture for participants 21 and up. Taking place on February 27 from 6–8 p.m. MT, hands-on class blends craft and history, guiding participants through the creation of thoughtfully selected cocktails while exploring the stories and cultural impact behind them. It’s an engaging, educational experience that highlights often-overlooked contributions to the cocktail world and a great way to toast Black history through skill, storytelling, and community.
