REAL SALT LAKE ANNOUNCES PRESEASON MATCH AGAINST SACRAMENTO REPUBLIC FC FOR SEASON TICKET MEMBERS
RSL to Host Sacramento at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday, March 27
HERRIMAN, Utah
– (Tuesday, March 23, 2021) –
Real Salt Lake
announced on Monday the addition of a preseason scrimmage against Sacramento Republic FC on Saturday, March 27, at 10 a.m. MT at Rio Tinto Stadium. The match will be exclusively for season ticket members and is an addition to the existing preseason schedule of matches in Tucson, Arizona, on April 3, 7 and 10.
Republic FC is currently led by former Real Monarchs Head Coach Mark Briggs who earned 2017 USL Championship Coach of the Year honors for leading the Monarchs to the 2017 USL Regular Season title. Additionally, Matt Glaeser, a Real Monarchs assistant coach during the 2019 USL Championship Title run, recently joined Briggs’ staff.
RSL started training camp on March 8 in Herriman in preparation for the start of the 2021 Major League Soccer season, scheduled to kick off for Salt Lake on April 24 on the road against Minnesota United FC.
In addition to Saturday’s contest RSL will play three preseason matches while in Arizona between March 31 and April 10 with the first on April 3 against the Rocky Mountain rival Colorado Rapids before facing the USL Championship’s 2020 Western Conference champion Phoenix Rising FC on April 7. RSL will conclude its preseason slate against the LA Galaxy on April 10 before returning to Utah.
All three of RSL’s remaining preseason matches will be held at Kino North Stadium in Tucson, Arizona.
Season Ticket Members will have until kickoff at 10 a.m. on Saturday to claim exclusive tickets to the scrimmage. Media access will be limited. Similar to protocols implemented in 2020, media will be
