RSL Drops 4-0 Result to Minnesota United FC

ST. PAUL, MN (Sunday, September 6, 2020) – Real Salt Lake (2-2-5, 11 points) fell 4-0 to Minnesota United FC on Sunday night, dropping its first result since Major League Soccer’s continuation of play after the MLS is Back Tournament.

Postgame Quotes from RSL v MIN.

RSL began the match well on the front foot and thought it had the go-ahead goal in the 12th minute when Giuseppe Rossi’s shot from 25 yards looked to have crossed the line after it was mishandled by Dayne St. Clair in the Minnesota net, but the referee let play continue. RSL again thought it had taken the lead again in the 26th minute when Nedum Onuoha’s header found the back of the net, only to be ruled narrowly offside.

Out of the halftime break in the 53rd minute, the hosts found the go-ahead goal through Chase Gasper whose first-time finish found the back of the net from inside the penalty area. Minnesota doubled its lead just nine minutes later when Robin Lod slipped in and scored on a breakaway in the 62nd minute to bring the score to 2-0.

As RSL looked to get itself back in the game, Minnesota found a third goal through Jacori Hayes who tucked home into an open net in the 75th minute. The hosts again found the back of the net through Lod who curled home his second of the evening in the 90thminute so solidify the 4-0 scoreline.
