Nick Rimando to Become First RSL Representative to be Inducted into the Utah Sports Hall of Fame

On May 21, the Utah Sports Hall of Fame announced five new inductees for 2020 and former goalkeeper Nick Rimando will become the first representative in Real Salt Lake history to be inducted into the Utah Sports HOF. Rimando will be honored alongside four others at a celebration dinner at the Little America Hotel on September 28.

NFL legend Haloti Ngata, PGA Tour golfer Jay Don Blake, water polo star Courtney Young Johnson and track and field star Teri Okelberry Spiers will also be honored with Rimando.

Originally joining RSL in 2007, Rimando immediately became a staple for the club and the community and played an integral role in bringing Utah its first ā€“ and to date ā€“ only major sports championship when RSL claimed the MLS Cup title in 2009.

Retiring following the 2019 season after 13 seasons with RSL, Rimando stepped off the field as Major League Soccerā€™s all-time leader in games played (514), games started (514), minutes (46,336), saves (1,705), goalkeeping wins (223), and shutouts (154). During his illustrious 20-year career in Major League Soccer, Rimando featured alongside current club captain Kyle Beckerman in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil where he represented the United States.
