Real Salt Lake is starting a specialized training group beginning Monday, August 26th for players that are born in 2006, 2007 and 2008 to help prepare our RSL Discovery players for future consideration into the RSL U-15 Development Academy.
Under the direction of RSL Academy Director Tom Spall, the RSL Youth Development Academy Foundation is looking to prepare more Utah athletes for the RSL Development Academy which competes in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy.
“We would like to promote strong candidates from Utah each year for consideration of the RSL U-15, U-17 and U-19 Academy Teams,” RSL Youth Development Academy Technical Director Will Rader said. “Entering our 3rd year of the RSL Youth Development Academy Foundation, our focus is to identify and prepare the top talent from Utah for the RSL Academy. Working directly with club directors to ensure that all players are identified and given an opportunity to participate when they are ready, the RSL Academy aims to develop the top youth talent in the country.”
In addition the club’s traditional Discovery Training program that is regionally organized into North, Metro and South regions around the state and provides supplemental training for 500 Elite athletes from across the state in Logan and Herriman, this program will give advanced players an opportunity to compete with other athletes that are interested in playing at the next level.
Many of the players invited in to this specialized training group also participate within the prestigious UYSA State Select Program (formerly known as ODP or Olympic Development Program) and play club soccer for some of the top teams in the region.
We have worked with all of the clubs throughout Utah and are extremely grateful for their continued support of our RSL Discovery Training program and the RSL Development Academy,” Rader said. “While there are over a dozen youth soccer clubs represented in this specialized training group, Utah powerhouse clubs La Roca FC, Sparta United and Utah Soccer Alliance continually help pave the way for youth soccer in our community.”
The specialized trainings will be held every Monday at Zions Bank Real Academy in Herriman, Utah from 6:30-8p MT running from August 26 through December 16.
