The Westfield Matildas Finalize Tournament of Nations Roster;
Tournament Matches Set to Include Brazil, USA, and Japan From July 22 – August 2.
SANDY, Utah (Tuesday, July 17, 2018) – Utah Royals FC MF Katrina Gorry has been called up to represent Australia for the upcoming Tournament of Nations, announced Matilda head coach Alen Stajcic and the Australia Football Federation. Gorry’s international selection comes just three months after a successful tour in the Asian Cup in Jordan – qualifying her team for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
This is Gorry’s seventh year representing the national team, registering 68 appearances and 14 goals. The 2014 FFA Women’s Player of the Year was a mainstay for the squad during their Asian Cup qualifiers, helping the team to the finals against Japan in early April. Following her international tour, “Mini” returned to the NWSL, appearing in 13 games with 881 minutes, and bagging one assist for the Utah side.
The Tournament of Nations is set to take place from July 26 – August 2, and will feature Australia, USA, Japan, and Brazil in a round-robin style contest. The winner of the tournament will be based on total points, with goal differential serving as the first tiebreaker.
