Fast Facts: SPR v SLC -

Player to Watch
– Forward Kharlton Belmar currently leads the United Soccer League’s “Golden Boot” race having scored eight goals in eight appearances this season. The 25-year-old Virginia native has also made a few appearances for Swope Park’s parent club, Sporting Kansas City to compliment his role with Swope. Belmar scored his first goal for Sporting KC against Real Salt Lake this past Wednesday in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and scored the lone SPR goal against Real Monarchs in early May. With his speed and ability to slip past the defense, Kharlton Belmar will be one to keep an eye on in Wednesday’s match.

History – This will be the second matchup of the season between the Monarchs and Swope Park. The two teams met in early-May in a match that saw the Utah club extend its lead in the all-time series with a 4-1 thumping of Swope at Zions Bank Stadium. Real Monarchs now carry its undefeated record over Swope at 3-0-1 going into Wednesday’s game in Kansas.

Last Five – Swope Park sit 5th in the Western Conference with 22 points and have had mixed results from its last five matches. The club is 2-2-1 in the last five, having earned seven total points. The last matchup saw Swope Park face Colorado Springs, with Swope prevailing by a 1-0 margin. However, Swope is deadly at home, having claimed three wins and a single draw this season and will look to continue the trend when the Monarchs visit on Wednesday.
