Fast Facts: SLC v SAC -

Players to Watch – Republic FC forward Cameron Iwasa has proven himself a vital piece to the Sacramento attack this season. Iwasa leads the team with five goals in 11 appearances, with the next closest Republic player owning only two goals. The Sacramento native is proof of yet another homegrown hero with the ability to finish, which is growing in popularity throughout the league. The quickness of Iwasa on the ball and his clinical finishing for the Northern California side proves he shouldn’t be overlooked.

History – The series between the two sides sits 4-3-3, in favor of the Monarchs. Tuesday’s match will be the first meeting between the two sides since they faced off in the first round of the 2017 USL Cup Playoffs. The playoff match ended in a Sacramento win in the way of penalty kicks, after a 1-1 score line through the run of play. The Monarchs are notably the better team at home in the series, with the same being true this season with any team that has traveled to Zions Bank Stadium this season.

Last Five – In their last five matches, Sacramento has come out with an impressive 4-1-0 record. Its one loss in that stretch came in the way of a close 3-2 defeat in a match against Reno 1868 FC. Sacramento Republic currently sit fourth place in the West standings with 21 points, only four points off of the conference leading Monarchs. The match could prove pivotal in the Western Conference and gives the Monarchs a chance to pull away from the pack after a tough loss to second place Timbers 2 last weekend.
