Utah Royals: A Regal Comeback
Utah Royals FC made a second-half come back last Saturday, April 21, ultimately coming home with a 2-2 draw against the NWSL’s only undefeated team, N.C. Courage. The Utah side spent a majority of the match playing from behind after a stellar shot from Courage MF Merritt Mathias found the back of the net in the 6th minute. Yet undaunted, URFC forwards Katie Stengel and Brittany Ratcliffe were able to register crucial goals for the squad in the 52nd and 66th minute, respectively. Utah Royals FC showed what they were truly made of during that second-half fight, but was it enough to dethrone North Carolina from the top spot? While Utah Royals FC are still in search of their first franchise win, they get to return home to Rio Tinto on Saturday where they are determined to win three points after falling in their inaugural home opener in Week 3. Amy Rodriguez is continuing to build up her fitness to be good for 90 minutes, and in due time the forward will be a consistent asset to their attack.”
URFC will now return to Rio Tinto Stadium, to take on the 2017 NWSL cup champ, the Portland Thorns, on Saturday, April 28, at 7:00 p.m. MT. You can catch the match on KMYU, or the KSL app, or listen to it on ESPN700.
