URFC Goes International

For Club and Country

After two competitive matches on the road, seven URFC members will travel overseas to fulfill international duties “for club and country.” You can catch these talented women in action as they compete at the highest level at FIFA World Cup Qualifiers, and international friendlies. The Utah side will join the rest of the league in taking a FIFA break, and are set to regroup on Friday, April 6.

Who to Watch For

  • DF Becky Sauerbrunn (USA) will captain team USA in back-to-back friendlies this week against international rival, Mexico. The first friendly will take place on Thursday, April 5, at EverBank Field, 5:00 pm MT. The second match is set for Sunday, April 8, at BBVA Compass Stadium, with an 11:30 am MT kick.


  • DF Rachel Corsie (SCOTLAND) will also captain her team, representing Scotland in the FIFA UEFA cup qualifiers against Switzerland on Thursday, April 5, 11:00 am MT, at LIPO Park Schaffhausen. Corsie will then take on the Polish Women’s National team on Tuesday, April 10, 12:35 pm MT, at Paisley 2021 stadium.


  • FW Elise Thorsnes (NORWAY) will wear the Norweigan crest on Tuesday, April 10, in a match against North Ireland, at Shamrock Park, for FIFA UEFA cup qualifiers. Kickoff is set for 12:30 pm MT.


  • MF Gunny Jonsdottir (ICELAND) traveled to her native home of Iceland to prepare for her upcoming matches against Slovenia on Friday, April 6, at 9:00 am MT; and Faroe Islands on Tuesday, April 10, at 10:00 am MT, at Torsvollur. These games will serve as the final stages of Iceland’s FIFA EUFA cup qualifiers.


  • MF Katrina Gorry (AUSTRALIA) will return to Utah after completing her international tour with the Matildas of Australia in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. This week, Gorry and her squad will take on South Korea on Saturday, April 7, 11:00 am MT, at King Abdullah International Stadium. She will then travel to Jordan to take on Vietnam on Tuesday, April 10, 11:00 am MT, at Amman International Stadium. Gorry will then cap off her Australian road campaign against 2015 FIFA World Cup runner-up, Japan, on Friday, April 13, at Amman International Stadium, with kick scheduled for 7:45 am MT.


  • MF Desiree Scott (CANADA), and FW Diana Matheson (CANADA), will represent the Great White North in international friendlies against France on Monday, April 9, at Roazhon Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm MT.
