Monarchs still #1 after Shield win

The Real Monarchs are USL Regular Season Champions, plain and simple. The Monarchs claimed the first USL silverware of the season and the first trophy in team history after its 1-1 draw with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 at Rio Tinto Stadium on Saturday. With winning the shield the pundits put the Monarchs at the top of the power rankings heading into the last week of the regular season. Check out what they had to say about the team below:

Monarchs still #1 after Shield win -

The Monarchs didn’t put in a vintage performance to claim the USL Regular Season Championship, but after Saturday night’s celebration, the side will take this week to make sure everyone gets through the final game of the regular season healthy and focused for the postseason. The only major goal the side could look to drive for is providing Chandler Hoffman with enough service to make a run at the Golden Boot against the LA Galaxy II.
The Monarchs had technically claimed the USL Regular Season Championship before it wrapped up the point it needed going into the night as soon as the game between San Antonio FC and the Tampa Bay Rowdies ended in a draw. While that was the case, going in and getting the result the side needed – even if it wasn’t the win the season-high crowd had been looking for – will have felt good as the side claimed the first silverware of the season. Saturday’s performance wasn’t a vintage Real performance, but it was enough to ensure a big celebration at Rio Tinto Stadium.”

The Monarchs will host LA Galaxy II on Saturday October 14 for its final regular season match of the year. The match is set to kick off at 7:00 p.m. MT from Rio Tinto Stadium before the team opens its first-ever playoff run and begins its quest for the 2017 USL Cup on Oct. 20. Tickets to both matches can be purchased at www.RSL.com/Monarchs.
