Academy Grads hit midway point of NCAA season

The NCAA season is nearly half-way through and teams are beginning to emerge as possible title contenders in conferences across the country. Real Salt Lake academy graduates have contributed immensely to their universities success in 2017 and have succeeded on and off the field. Here is where some academy grads stand as the midway point nears:


Clemson

Tanner Dieterich – (Grad. 2016) –Dieterich has featured in all ten matches for the Tigers this year while serving as the team captain with one goal and assist to his name in 2017.


University of New Mexico

Lucas Seligman – DF, (Grad. 2013) – The redshirt senior played every minute of New Mexico’s Grange and Ashwill Invitational tournament to help the Lobo’s to the tournament win. Seligman has played 191 total minutes thus far in 2017.


Alex Vedamanikam – FW, (Grad. 2017) – In his first year as a University of New Mexico Lobo, Vedamanikam has earned 322 total minutes across nine matches in 2017, against California State University Northridge on September 8 in the Grange and Ashwill Invitational.


Aaron Herrera – DF, (Grad. 2015) – Earned Tournament MVP at the Grange and Ashwill Invitational, scoring the winning goal in New Mexico’s win over UC Irvine, his first goal of the year. A member of the U-20 USMNT, Herrera has been a mainstay in the Lobo lineup since arriving in Albuquerque in 2015 and has appeared in nine games this season, starting all of them having only missed 11 total minutes for a total of 819 minutes played.

Sam Gleadle – FW, (Grad. 2014) – As a senior Gleadle has started and played in all nine, regular season matches for the Lobos this year having scored three goals with one assist, one at Marquette on Sept. 4 and one at South Carolina on Sept. 22 and the third on Sept. at Marshall. Gleadle has registered 701 minutes to his name this season.


University of Washington

Elijah Rice – FW, (Grad. 2016) – Rice has started six matches for the Huskies this season playing 456 minutes and scoring three goals in six shots on goal. Playing up top for the Huskies, Rice has already equaled his goal total from a season ago.

Utah Valley University

Alec Felix – MF, (Grad. 2016) – 844 total minutes thus far in 2017 for UVU, starting all ten games in central midfield for the Wolverines. Felix notched his first goal for UVU in the Wolverines match against San Jose State on Sept. 29.

Gui Leme – FW, (Grad. 2016) – 552 total minutes thus far in 2017, scoring one goal against Cal State Fullerton and one goal against SDSU. Leme has also earned two assists this year. Earned the Western Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week for Sept. 4-10 for his two-goal performance over that time.


UCLA

Alex Knox – DF, (Grad. 2016) – As a defender for the Bruins, Knox has played 337 minutes this season making five starts and notching one assist. Helped UCLA earn the 1-0 shutout win against UNLV on September 11.


Erik Holt –DF, (Grad. 2015) In eight starts for the Bruins in 2017, Holt has registered one goal and an assist in 728 minutes playing every minute available to him thus far, starting in the center back position.

University of Maryland

Miles Stray – MF, (Grad. 2016) – 374 minutes played in the back line for the Terrapins thus far in 2017 making five starts while appearing in seven games.


Amar Sejdic – (Grad. 2015) – Sejdic has played 823 total minutes for the Terrapins this season placing four shots on goal. Sejedic has started all ten matches this season for Maryland. Sejdic has one goal and one assist operating in central midfielder for Maryland.
