Academy teams face Arsenal FC on Saturday

The Real Salt Lake Academy sides return to action Saturday as they play host to Arsenal FC from Southern California with the U-17s kicking off at 11:00am MT and the U-19s following shorty after with kick off slated for 1:30 pm MT from America First Field in Sandy. Admission to both matches is FREE to the public and media members are strongly encouraged to attend.

Both RSL Academy sides will look to build on last week’s results where each team walked away victors over Sacramento Republic FC with the U-17s taking a 3-2 result while the U-19 group won 2-1.

For the U-17s, FW Benjamin Ortiz added two more goals to his name in the win over Republic FC, including the eventual game winner in minute 83, bringing his season total to four, while helping his side remain perfect on the year. MF Julian Vazquez also recorded his first goal of the year in the win.

For the older group, MFs Glademir Mendoza and Richard Ledezma each scored for RSL, with Ledezma notching the winner in minute 77, helping the team to its second win in as many games.

RSL’s opponents come into Saturday's match on the back of mixed results last weekend as the Arsenal FC U-17s topped Deanza Force U-17s 3-1 in Temecula, California while the U-19s were shutout and gave up three first half goals in a five-minute span, falling 3-0 at home. The U-17s were led by two second-half goals from Jason Garcia in the win, bringing his goal tally for the season to four, tying RSL leader Ortiz with four goals.
