Week 12 Power Rankings

Two matches in Week 12 gave RSL a shot at six points and an opportunity to find a good run of form against NYCFC and defending MLS Cup Champion Seattle Sounders. RSL took all the spoils in a midweek matchup against NYCFC with Albert Rusnak and Aaron Maund providing goals in the 2-1 win at Rio Tinto Stadium. Having gone winless in the last 18 games on an artificial surface, RSL arrived in Seattle at the weekend in search of another three points to close out the week. The Claret-and-Cobalt ultimately fell 1-0 but showed high attacking promise as RSL GK Nick Rimando saved yet another spot kick to spur the team defensively. Was the team’s win against NYCFC and Rimando’s performance against the Rave Green enough to move RSL up the Power Ranking’s boards? Check out the latest Power Rankings and leave us a comment below:

“Welp. The midweek win was a needed salve, but dropping Saturday's result to Seattle means it's now five losses in six for Mike Petke and Co.”

“Real Salt Lake jumps up a spot thanks to a home win over NYCFC, but manager Mike Petke's team remains a work in progress.”

“RSL finally broke its four-game losing run with a midweek win over an NYCFC side missing many regulars, but followed that up with a 1–0 loss at Seattle. From injuries to form on the field, not much has gone right for RSL recently, but Nick Rimando did set records for total saves and PK saves over the course of those two games. So that’s something.”

“Despite being hit hard by injuries, RSL got a win in its double match week. It's enough to drag the Utah side out of our basement.”
