Power Rankings: Where Does RSL Rank This Week?

RSL’s second home game of the season held plenty of talking points and even a bit of controversy. In a match that ultimately saw the claret-and-cobalt fall to western conference rival LA Galaxy 2-1, Yura Movsisyan tallied his first goal of the 2017 season courtesy of a sublime header, and the youngsters shone in what proved to be a very physical game. Were the young gun’s performances and Movsisyan’s goal enough to convince the power ranking pundits of a rise? Check out the Week 3 Power Rankings and leave us a comment below:

ESPNFC – 19

“RSL is good enough to beat L.A., but not when veteran leader Kyle Beckerman commits a silly foul and gets sent off just before halftime.”

MLSsoccer.com – 20

“Winless in three to start the season, winless in 11 across all competitions since last August, and that, it turns out, is how the Jeff Cassar era comes to an end. RSL have some good young pieces but need to figure out how it all fits together.”

SI.com – 17

“Real Salt Lake lost for the second straight week and coach Jeff Cassar paid the price for it, as the team relieved him of his duties after a 2–1 loss in the team’s home opener against the Galaxy. That’s a super-early time to fire a coach–one signed to a one-year extension after last season, no less–but in fairness to the RSL brass the team simply hasn’t looked up to it so far this season.”
