REAL MONARCHS SIGN TWO TO ADD TO ROSTER
USL Club Adds Former Timbers 2 DF Michael Gallagher and Ghanaian FW Emmanuel Ocran

SANDY, Utah (Wednesday, February 15, 2017) ā€“ Real Monarchs SLC added two to the roster this week, as Head Coach Mike Petke readies his club for its third season in the USL.  DF Michael Gallagher and FW Emmanuel Ocran, pending league and federation approval and receipt of his ITC, have both been signed to bring the roster to 14 players, as the club also mutually terminated the loan of FW Amet Ramirez and FW Charles Boateng could not complete his loan after failing his physical.

ā€œAs we get closer to the start of the season and have a better idea of what our needs will be throughout the season, adding versatile young players with professional experience like Michael and Emmanuel give us options that we can explore moving forward while also developing young players that could hold a future in our organization,ā€ Real Salt Lake General Manager Craig Waibel said.

Gallagher, 22, played the 2016 season with Portland Timbers 2 in the USL, logging 24 appearances in his first season as a professional.  While at the University of Washington from 2012- 2015, he also played in the Premier Development League (PDL) with the Sounders FC U-23s and Washington Crossfire during the summer months between college seasons.

Ocran, 20, helped WA All-Stars win the Ghanaian Premier League in 2016 and comes to the Monarchs on loan for the 2017 season.  Primarily a winger, he can also play as a striker and was among the clubā€™s top goalscorers during its championship run and was called in to the Ghanaian National Team for African Cup of Nations qualifying matches, though he did not feature for his country.

The Monarchs roster now sits at 14 players, with seven of them currently participating in training camp with Real Salt Lake in Portland, Oregon, while the other seven opened camp under Petke last week in Utah.  In addition to the two new signings, the Monarchs also announced that Ramirez had his loan mutually terminated and he returned to his former club Plaza Amador in his native Panama, and that Boateng did not pass his physical and he would return to West African Football Academy in Ghana.
