Sandy, Utah (Wednesday August 17, 2016). The matchup against the Real Monarchs and the Portland Timbers 2 ended with a Monarchs 2-1 victory between the two teams Wednesday night. This is the second and final time these two teams have played each other; the previous time was in Portland back in May when the Monarchs fell 1-3. A combination of Maikon Orellana early goal and an own goal committed by Portland secured the three points for the Monarchs.

Three key points of the game:
· Maikon Orellana scored the first goal of the night off a loose ball, where Orellana was able to get the ball all alone in the box and put it into the near side goal in the 13th minute of play. This will be Orellana 4th goal on the season, making him the second leading scorer behind Ricardo Velazco.
· Jeff Attinella joined the Monarchs as goalkeeper for the first time since the first game of the season in March against Saint Louis FC. Attinella got 5 saves Wednesday night, helping the Monarchs secure the three-point victory.
· Pedro Baez got into the game Wednesday night, in his first appearance as a part of the RSL family. After being signed in July, Pedro arrived in Salt Lake City earlier this week and was able to help the Monarchs secure the victory against the Portland Timbers 2.
