SANDY, Utah (Friday, July 22, 2016) – Real Salt Lake announced the signing of Paraguayan FW Pedro Baez on loan from Paraguayan club Cerro Porteno on Friday, pending visa approval and receipt of his ITC.
“He’s a promising young attacking player that we feel has the ability to assimilate quickly into the way we play and contribute on the field,” Real Salt General Manager Craig Waibel said.
Baez will be on loan with Real Salt Lake through the end of the season with an option for RSL to purchase the forward at the conclusion of the loan. At 19 years old, he has experience at the U-20 and U-23 levels for the Paraguay National Team.
Real Salt Lake is fourth in the Western Conference at 8-6-6 (30 points) and hosts the San Jose Earthquakes Friday night at Rio Tinto Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. MT with national coverage on UniMas and local television coverage on KMYU.
