Preview: Real Monarchs vs. St. Louis FC

SANDY, Utah (Friday, March 25, 2016) – Real Monarchs SLC kicks off its 2nd USL campaign tomorrow at Rio Tinto Stadium against Saint Louis FC Saturday at 7:00 p.m. MT, as Head Coach Freddy Juarez’ team seeks to continue the form that saw the club end its inaugural season on a five-game win streak, with four of the five victories at home, where the Monarchs finished the year with a 6-3-5 mark.


Tickets for Saturday’s match – which will include a distinct RSL flavor, with eight players – including Jordan Allen, Justen Glad, Luke Mulholland and Jeff Attinella, amongst others – slated to appear in Monarchs’ uniforms, as well as a pre-game autograph session with Claret-and-Cobalt stars Joao Plata, Yura Movsisyan and Sunday “Sunny” Stephen – are just $10 each. MONARCHS v. SAINT LOUIS FC – Sat., March 26, 2016 – 7:00 p.m. MT

MONARCHS GAIN SERVICES OF EIGHT DURING RSL BYE WEEK: Real Salt Lake has loaned eight players to the Monarchs this weekend at home, giving the octet a chance to stay sharp in advance of next Saturday’s trip to Sporting Kansas City. GK Jeff Attinella, GK Lalo Fernandez, DF Justen Glad, MF John Stertzer, MF Luke Mulholland, MF Omar Holness, MF Jordan Allen and FW Devon Sandoval each will dress and are expected to play for Monarchs HC Freddy Juarez in this weekend’s USL opener … 


RSL STARS SUPPORT MONARCHS PRE- and POST-GAME AT RIOT: The RSL trio of FW Joao Plata, FW Yura Movsisyan and MF Sunday “Sunny” Stephen will be on hand at Rio Tinto Stadium to sign autographs, meet the fans and support the Monarchs Saturday at 6:00 p.m. MT, an hour prior to kickoff. The trio will be at the AFCU Pavilion on the Stadium’s East Side pre-game, with a $10 game ticket (just $7 for RSL season ticket members) permitting entry, and a $25 Pavilion ticket also including all-you-can-eat R&R Barbeque.


Post-game, GK Jeff Attinella, MF Jordan Allen and DF Justen Glad will be joined by new Monarchs signee DF Chris Schuler in the 2nd Floor Budweiser Club Real.


SCHULER STAYS IN RSL FAMILY, JOINS MONARCHS: Last Friday, the Monarchs announced the signing of former Real Salt Lake DF Chris Schuler, keeping the six-year MLS veteran at Rio Tinto Stadium for the 2016 season while he continues to rehab a foot injury that ended his 2015 year after just five matches with RSL (and two with the Monarchs).  


Schuler, 28, played six seasons with Real Salt Lake after being selected in the third round, 39th overall, in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft.  He played 80 matches in six seasons, highlighted by his career-best 25 appearances in 2014.
