Save of the Week: Rimando takes home third SOTW honor

Rimando Save of the Week 28 Winner 0918

Nick Rimando has been the gold standard for MLS goalkeeping for years and on Saturday, his save on Ricardo Clark showed why.  That save earned him MLS Save of the Week honors, doubling up the competition with over 40% of the vote to outshine second-place finisher Jon Kempin and take home his third Save of the Week crown of the season.

Rimando previously won the honor in Week 1 and Week 6.  He is 6-7-7 in his 20 starts this season with seven shutouts to bring his MLS-record career total to 122 clean sheets.  He has 1.05 goals against average, ranking him third in MLS behind only D.C. United’s Bill Hamid (0.95) and Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s David Ousted (1.00).
