Save of the Week: Rimando takes aim at third SOTW honor

Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando had four saves in Real Salt Lake’s 3-1 win over the Houston Dynamo on Saturday and one of them has the Wall of the Wasatch nominated for Save of the Week honors.

With the match still scoreless in the 21st minute, the Dynamo pieced together a five bit of possession up the right side that resulted in a great opportunity for midfielder Ricardo Clark.  Ultimately, Nathan Sturgis sprung Clark into the box behind the RSL defense, leaving him 1v1 with Rimando.  With Demar Phillips approaching from behind, Clark brought the ball down with his right foot, then hit a left-footed half-volley bound for the inside of the near post.  But Rimando was up to the task and covered the angle with his left foot to make the boot save and keep Houston off the board.

Rimando has won Save of the Week honors twice this season – in Week 1 and Week 6 – while Jeff Attinella has three Save of the Week awards to his credit this season.
