ESPN 700: Luis Silva on The Bill & OC Show

Luis Silva vs Portland 0815

Luis Silva may have only been with Real Salt Lake for the last month, but already he knows the importance of every game on the schedule for RSL as it embarks on the final nine matches of the MLS schedule while sitting six points behind Seattle Sounders FC for the sixth and final playoff spot.

With Seattle on the calendar on Saturday for a clash at Rio Tinto Stadium, the stakes are high for Salt Lake.

“It’s extremely important.  It’s a must-win.  We have a lot of tough games coming up and it’s going to show the team’s character.  We have to start this Saturday by winning and getting three points,” Silva said in an interview on The Bill & OC Show on ESPN 700.  “We know that there’s nine games remaining.  It’s in the back of our minds that we’re going to make the playoffs - we want to make the playoffs.  We have to break it down and focus one game at a time.  It was a tough loss on Saturday, but as much as it hurts, we have to just let it go and focus on Seattle.  I think everybody’s done a good job of that.”

Silva has three appearances for RSL since coming from D.C. United in July in a trade for Alvaro Saborio.  He had his best performance on Saturday in a 1-0 defeat against the Portland Timbers and is quickly adapting to his new club.

“I felt really good last game.  I feel comfortable, I feel at home,” he said.  “I’m just looking forward to getting more minutes and helping out the team getting some wins.”
