Javier Morales has been among the best in Major League Soccer when he has been fit this season. On Saturday, he put that on display with a goal and an assist in a dominating 2-0 victory over the Houston Dynamo at Rio Tinto Stadium.
He put the exclamation point on that performance by winning the MLSsoccer.com’s AT&T Goal of the Week honors for his stunning half-volley in the first half of that match.
It was the second Goal of the Week win for Morales, who also took home the honor in Week 5 for his goal against the San Jose Earthquakes. Devon Sandoval (Week 11 vs. Montreal) and Olmes Garcia (Week 17 vs. Columbus) also won the award, Sandoval with a curling blast from the wing and Garcia coming on the end of a team-effort on a set piece.
