Real Salt Lake 0 vs Colorado Rapids 0
June 8, 2015; Rio Tinto Stadium
Records: Real Salt Lake (4-5-6, 18 points).  Colorado Rapids (2-4-8, 14 points)

Man of the Match: Javier Morales was again setting up goal-scoring chances throughout the match.  Of Real Salt Lake’s 15 shots in the match, only four didn’t involve a pass or shot from Morales.  That’s what RSL hoped to see from the 4-3-3 formation, particularly with Sebastian Jaime, Alvaro Saborio and Joao Plata all starting together.  Morales had options in front of him and he certainly did the work to find them.

Telling Stat: 2.  RSL and Colorado are the two lowest scoring teams in the Western Conference with 13 and 11 goals, respectively.  And while the teams combined for 31 shots on Sunday, they could only put two shots on goal.

What You Missed: Jamison Olave started the match at center back for RSL, but suffered a quad strain in the opening moments of the match.  He tried to play through it, but realized quickly that he wouldn’t be able to continue and Aaron Maund replaced him in the sixth minute.  It was the earliest substitution in club history.

So What: RSL saw the match as two points dropped rather than a point earned and who can blame them after the golden opportunities to score throughout the match?  The team still has five of the next seven matches at home, but now the need to earn points from those matches becomes all the more urgent.
